Welcome!

We would like to offer you a warm welcome to the Wesley community, whether you are looking for regular worship, are visiting the city, seeking opportunities to connect with others  or have found us by chance while browsing online.

Whoever you are,

wherever you're from,

you are welcome here.

We feel called to make our building accessible throughout the week, our ‘open door’ approach has led us to open our hearts and our minds to all those who would like to share this place and find community and fellowship here.

We believe that care for God’s creation and urgent action to tackle climate change form part of our Christian calling and responsibility. At Wesley, we are committed to showing our care for God’s creation in all we do.

We embarked on our Eco-Church journey to help us learn more about how we can do this - as a community, in our building, in the city and the world around us, and in our own lifestyles.

In January 2024 we were awarded the Silver Eco Church award.

Wesley is a Fairtrade Place of Worship. This means we:

  1. Use Fairtrade products wherever possible (at least tea, coffee and sugar) and share information about Fairtrade products with the wider congregation.
  2. Integrate Fairtrade into the life of our place of worship, at Fairtrade Fortnight or other times of the year. For example through events, stalls and worship.

Churches should be welcoming places of safety for all and proud to offer sanctuary to people fleeing violence and persecution.

Sanctuary is a long-standing prophetic theme of the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures and the idea of a Church of Sanctuary has evolved from the City of Sanctuary movement, building cultures of welcome, hospitality and safety.

Wesley has recently been awarded the Church of Sanctuary title and is working alongside other churches and organisations in Chester to provide a welcome to all who seek sanctuary.
